Galgorm Resort & Spa Review - Zeena Xena

Northern Ireland's Luxury Spa

Galgorm Resort & Spa Review...

The Entrance of Galgorm Resort and Spa

Hey guys, hope you've all been well since my last post. So last week you would have seen my visit to Galgorm Resort & Spa via my instagram if you follow me. If you're not following me, what are you doing? - instagram.com/zeenaxena to stay updated with my travels.

The resort pride's itself in being Northern Ireland's luxury hotel and spa which I can most definitely vouch for. For this trip, I booked plane tickets as always using Sky Scanner to find the best deal. This time I managed to bag flights with Easy Jet for just under £50.

After my short flight, I was greeted by my driver (Paul) who was such a sweetheart. Whilst driving us to the resort (about 30 minutes from Belfast International), he taught us a bit about Belfast's history as well as some of Galgorm's more present facts. Once we arrived at the hotel, we were greeted by so many polite staff situated in the hotel's main reception. Connor, one of the general managers at Galgorm walked us through the resort giving us a brief description on facilities, restaurants and how to get around. When it comes to service, these guys know what they're doing! Thanks to Paul, Maurice, Connor & others for making our stay so pleasant.

Rooms
Now in terms of rooms, usually I'd prefer to stay in bedroom's that look a little bit more modern to me in terms of decor/colour schemes etc, however one thing I could say about our room is that they were very clean and comfortable. We had the deluxe room with a river review, which was just so beautiful to wake up to each morning...

In our room we had facilities such as tea/coffee making machine, a mini bar (which was included with our room), snacks (OMG I fell in love with the Irish crisps and biscuits), lots of storage space, magazines and a TV!

As you can tell from the photos, rooms are quite traditional however the bathroom is very modern and again was very spotless. I was definitely excited to have a shower/get ready here each morning because the bathroom was so pretty and the lighting - girls the best (even at night)!

Room Service
In terms of cleaning, the room attendants would come to our rooms twice a day in a non-pestering way. As this is a spa, you'd probably have double lots of towel/robe laundry (we sure did), so these visits are quite necessary to get rid of any wet laundry. The attendants would also re-stock you room with water, snacks (which they don't do in every hotel I've stayed in), and of course make your rooms look like you've just arrived in them.

Rooms vary in price. Check here for updated prices!

Food
At Galgorm Resort & Spa you'll be spoilt for choice when it comes to food as this hotel has four spots to dine at.

First up Breakfast at the Review View Restaurant which offers a truly unique and memorable dining experience. I got to dine here twice and loved the fact that I could dine whilst overlooking some amazing views to include the river...

The buffet breakfast consisted of different meats, fish, cheese, fruits, yogurts, breads and other breakfast goodies....

As well as the buffet, included in breakfast you could also order from the A la carte menu (I chose eggs Royale) accompanied by fresh juices and a hot drink. The menu is quite extensive so you'll definitely find something you like on it. All the ingredients from this restaurant are either sourced locally or from Galgorm's own garden.

Next, lunch/dinner. We spent most of our time eating at Gillie's Bar and Grill which I personally found to be quite affordable. They had special lunch menus where you could get a starter or side, meal and a drink for £12.95 I believe.

On our second day we had the chance of having dinner at Gillie's. For the starter, I went with the salt and chilli chicken which I ended up ordering as a main the next day cause it was so good. For the main, I had the honey glazed citrus salmon with some potatoes on the side. The salmon in my personal opinion was grilled nicely, full of flavour and broke off nicely. To wash this down I believe I got some sort of fruity mocktail.

The Spa Area
So as you can imagine, it was quite hard for me to take photos of the spa areas as they were pretty much occupied all the time, I also didn't want to interrupt people's zen time. A lot of people visit Galgorm just for the day to use the facilities or may end up staying overnight, so it can be quite busy but a good type of busy if you know what I mean.

Unlike other spas I've been to, there are so many facilities/changing rooms, some nice quite areas to just hang and even a Spa cafe (Elements) which does the most amazing Salmon.

On our last day, we made sure to use all the facilities including: The hot tub/pools, Celtic sauna, other saunas and fitness room. In the past, I've never really considered using outdoor hot tubs especially when the temperature is quite low out... However, I think the feeling of being cold and jumping into a hot tub was quite invigorating, something I'll definitely do again.

As part of our package, I also had the chance of receiving the Quartz Gold Treatment (from £125) which put me in such a relaxing state. This treatment is great for those of you that lead busy lifestyles and use technology a lot like me. Read more about the treatment here

Overall my experience at Galgorm Resort & Spa was exceptional. Would I come back? YES! I felt like I could have done with maybe two more days here in all honesty, I didn't want the experience to come to an end! :(

Thanks to Galgorm for having me!

Until next time xx
