Zeena's Every Day Makeup ft NYX Macaron Lippie

Wednesday, 30 September 2015 London, UK

I rarely do beauty posts that include my face (no idea why) - but definitely need to go about doing more! People are always interested in what products I wear on my face, so you'll be happy to know that everything I do use costs less than a tenner each (seems like I have some sort of rule). I don't like paying too much for beauty products if I'm honest, I just don't see the point unless I'm head over heels. Having done some research I've come to  realise that a lot of makeup brands be it high end, online, highstreet etc sometimes make their products in the same factories - so why should or would I pay £30 for a high end lipstick when I can get it for like £6? Hmmm! I wouldn't say I'm a bargain hunter, just smart to be honest!

Anyway I wanted to take you through some of the products I used for this look. I know what you're thinking I always look the same haha so I will be experimenting with different looks and uploading them onto my blog. (Products are listed beneath pictures).

Above photo is without flash but with flashbox light.

Face
NYX - HD Primer
L'oreal - True Match Foundation (my holy grail in golden cappuccino)
Maybelline - Dream Matte Mouse in cocoa
Maybelline - Fit Me Concealer in medium
Sleek - Face Form Kit in Medium
NYX - Baked blush

Eyes
Primark - Natural looking eyelashes
NYX - Jumbo Pencil in Milk (to highlight corners)
Green pencil is from Morocco!

Lips
NYX -  Macaron Lippie in violet / You can purchase NYX products on very.co.uk & for a limited time at Selfridges in London
Liner - another one from Morocco sorry! (They're so good and dirt cheap haha)

Clothing
Top - Forever 21
Earrings - New Look
Necklace* - Adorning Ava

Hair provided by The Jessica Range

I'm always asked about the products I use so thought it would be a good idea to feature them on the blog. As mentioned everything is affordable and can be worn as an everyday subtle look (not using too much product) or for a really heavy evening look depending on how you use the products.

Lippie Review

I must say, I was a bit apprehensive to try this colour when I first saw it because I just thought something so light wouldn't suit me in this finish as I have dry lips. However, once I tried it on, I was like OMG WOW this is amazing! I was just about to purchase a lip tar in a similar shade from OCC and cancelled my order due to this haha. Obviously the finish isn't the same, but I do still really love the colour. If you follow me on instagram, you'll know that the pink lipstick that I always wear also by NYX who I'm a BIG fan of if you haven't guessed. Can't wait to try the other colours!

What do you think of my look? Would love to hear your thoughts!

London Fashion Week: Day Two Outfit

Sunday, 27 September 2015 London, UK

Hey guys, I know it's been a while but I'm back! It's been a real busy two weeks for me, attending events, London Fashion Week and of course keeping up with my brand - it's safe to say, I've missed writing posts on Zeena Xena. So here I am, now lets get on to today's post...

London Fashion Week is one of those things I'm not always 100% on if I'm honest. I always say I won't attend Fashion Week and then a week prior end up fussing over outfits (except this year I sorted out outfits in the same week). I've always viewed London Fashion Week as a hub for the rich and famous, or at least those who pretend to be - none of which describe best describe me. However, this year was different. There was SO much going on for bloggers which I think is great as times have changed and bloggers have become the centre of everything really. I mean take Collate London and their Refuel Room and The Apartment, both great places for bloggers to hang out in-between shows. From makeup touch ups, to Five Guys trips, Rihanna taxis and rooftop hangouts, us bloggers definitely received that special treatment throughout LFW!

Anyway, let's talk through my outfit!

So on day 2 (The Saturday) I wore all online retailers, which I love because the items are so affordable, look great and mean that any of you can purchase my look! I wanted to keep my outfit for my first London Fashion Week day pretty simple so stuck to black, camel/gold. I also planned to wear over the knee boots for my first look, but found it real tricky to then find a dress that goes with the boots as they are pretty long (see below). I was lucky enough to find this curved hem dress from (see below), which truly flatters any body shape.

In true spirit of London Fashion Week, I decided to pop a belt over my dress which made this outfit pop even more and threw on a camel coloured coat to make the look seem sophisticated. Honestly, I never had so many heads turn ever in my life.. I seriously felt like Beyonce haha!

You can find full outfit details below:

Overall I had an interesting experience at London Fashion Week this year! Would love to know if you attended, link your posts in my comments section below :)

Joan Collins Timeless Beauty

Saturday, 12 September 2015 London, UK

On Wednesday I was invited down to the Joan Collins Timeless beauty event along with blogging gal Karishma from beneaththebrush. We all know who Dame Joan Collins is and I mean who wouldn't be excited to go and join her for cocktails and browse her very own makeup range? So, I made my way to the insanely beautiful Clarence Suite at the Claridges Hotel  in London and had the chance to preview some of the collection pictured below;

At a first glance I was impressed with the packaging, prior to this event, I hadn't really seen any of Joan Colins' makeup range so this had me like "oooh" haha (reminds me of Charlotte Tilbury at a better price point). I was pleased to see the variety of shades in the First Base Foundation collection. From the cool to warm range both include fair, medium and darker tones. Sadly, I didn't get to swatch the foundation however Karishma did and she really liked the dewy texture and light finish it had. If you head to the website, you can find more information on what tone will tone/colour you are.

So this mirror I absolutely fell in love with - again very impressed with the packaging. Often, it's hard to get away with blingy items without making them look tacky, however; the shape, the way the diamonds have been encrusted and the printed logo combined make this mirror more of a luxury one.

Now let's not forget about skincare! You can browse the collection of skincare products here

On to my favourites! Lipsticks and glosses. You probably know that when it comes to makeup I'm a sucker for lipsticks... I think that without lipstick your makeup look is not complete. Like it should be illegal not to wear lipstick in my opinion haha. If I remember correctly, my favourite lipstick was called 'Lady Joan' which I did swatch it's a cross between a pink and a purple (raspberry) and crazy amounts of lasting power. Even when you wipe it off it leaves behind this beautiful tint and gives the impression of fuller lips. I was told that this is actually Joans favourite lipstick ;) get in there Zaineb!

Last but not at all least, a new scent that I am very happy to have discovered 'I am Woman' which is a reflection of Joans' personality. With a blend of citrus, musk, wood and floral notes, this scent is a real firecracker! I was a bit sceptical about trying this scent as at the first sniff I did find it a bit strong however, once settled into the skin, I did get the floral and musky notes which somehow got into my hair and had it smelling sweet the next day haha!

Have you tried any of the Joan Collins Timeless Beauty range? I can definitely spot some great Christmas presents within the range and even little gifts for myself. I'll definitely be shopping with Joan in the near future!

How to Transition into Autumn

Thursday, 10 September 2015 London, UK

So you've accepted the fact that Summer is over and have started your autumnal shop featuring; different shades of browns, greens, greys and lots of black. You want to hop into your new gear ASAP (I'm impatient too) but can't help the fact that on the odd day there's still a bit of sun around which makes styling pieces very confusing (this goes to those of you that pair uggs with mini skirts and jumpers - very confusing indeed). Recently, the weather hasn't been too bad.. I mean yes it's really cold early hours of the morning but throughout the day the weather does seem to change. I put this little 'fit together to show you how to transition into Autumn with some key pieces...

Photography: CCM PHOTOGRAPHY

Coat & Top - I've kept tones together so a beige/cream, and a nudey brown as it's not too harsh or dark in terms of Autumnal colours. These colours work well for transitioning into a new season, as they can be worn all year round. In terms of my top and coat, I decided that it'd be cool to mix a crop top with a duster as it was a chilly start but warm day overall. My coat came off and on about 10 times haha - this is from H&M! This particular crop top is from Pretty Little Thing

Jeans - Now these jeans are one of my favourite pairs of jeans from ASOS, They are the high waisted ridley jeans in tall. I'm not a tall person but I do like my jeans to be long so I can create a thick roll at the bottom of the leg. For curvy girls, these jeans are perfect as they are pretty stretchy; highly important especially if you have a smaller waist.

Bag & Shoes - Again keeping tones together this grab bag from LYDC has to be one of my new loves. I just love the detailing that screams Spring but one of which that can easily be bought into Autumn depending on how you style it. My shoes from Linzi were featured on my blog here for London Fashion Week and are making a re-appearance! They are so easy to walk in and look great with a pair of jeans.

So how do you transition into Autumn from Summer? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Goodbye Summer...

Friday, 4 September 2015 London, UK

I've been meaning to shoot a fashion post for a while, however every time I plan to, the weather is absolutely pants! Luckily, when I shot the photos for this post it was just in-between raining times so I managed to stay dry.

Shot in my local public garden, I paired together my Joni Jeans (which are my all time fav) with Dolly Rockin It's printed crop top and these laced up beauties from Linzi which makes me feel like the ultimate doll.

I recently purchased this Jasper Conran grab bag for when I'm 'on the go' or even 'run' at press days, events & meetings. It's teeny but I can fit all the basics in such as my phone, keys, cards, lip essentials, makeup brush and even camera - sometimes even my umbrella too hah! My new obsession has to be grab bags, which I think I'll heavily be into this A/W15. Whether you're going for a day time or evening look, this bag will complete any outfit.. This bag is currently out of stock on the Debenhams website but you can browse the collection here

These shoes by Linzi are everything. Despite them being quite high these are comfortable and believe me I wore these to the NYX event/after party for about three hours. These shoes do however leave lots of lines on your feet - not the prettiest of sights believe me haha. You can purchase these boys here at a very reasonable price.

Top - Dolly Rockin' It
Jeans - Topshop
Shoes - Linzi
Bag - Jasper Conran for Debenhams
Rings - Vera Wang & YSL
Bracelet - My Flash Trash

What do you think about my outfit? Would love to hear your thoughts below :)

 P.S. Goodbye Summer xx

Illamasqua Bloggers Press Day - Earth Collection A/W15

Thursday, 3 September 2015 London, UK

Last week I was fortunate enough to attend the Illamasqua A/W 15 product launch for press and bloggers. The event was held in London's Ace Hotel (I rarely go down to events in East London, but couldn't give this one a miss). I met with blogger babes Amina & Bunmi where we were kindly greeted by the hotel staff and swiftly headed upstairs to the 4th floor. As we came out of the lift, we were signed in and walked across to the room the event was being held in and again we were greeted by lovely hotel staff and Illamasqua's press team.

We had the chance to preview the latest collection which I'll review below and we were also graced by Creative Director Alex Box's presence. She explained why she was eager to create a collection that echoes warmth, iridescent light and power. After her talk, Alex popped over to talk to our little group which was lovely of her. Our talk escalated from the collection, to fashion to energy - can I just say, Alex is probably one of the most sweetest people I've ever met in my life.

One of my favourite products of this collection, a very rusty red which is so on trend this A/W15. This lipstick is long lasting, packed with Vitmain E to give you smooth looking lips. Purchase Glamore Lipstick in Kin here - £18.50

Those Halloumi bites were just so damn good..yes that's watermelon you see ;)

The Nomadic palette features for intense coloured powders in both matte and metallic finishes. Again, Illamasqua are on trend with the shades they have chosen which can be used to create a variety of looks easily. Purchase here - £34

You would have seen me modelling the Element nail varnish just above in this post and I can say, I adore it. I must admit, I was a bit sceptical about the colour suiting my skin tone and fingers at first but the lovely nail artist (@cherriesnow) changed my views on this. She painted them effortlessly and I was shocked to see how amazing just one coat looked (we did use two but honestly if you're short on time one will do). Purchase here - £14.50

After the event myself, Amina, Bunmi, Breeny Lee and BeautybyJJ headed down to the Hoxton to catch up from when we saw each other last which was lovely!

What products will be making an appearance in your beauty collection this Autumn?
