HOW TO: Make The Perfect Pasta Bake Without An Oven

Hi guys,

I hope you are doing well! I feel like I'm not in tact with my blog these days which is a shame because I do really enjoy posting here however, managing Blogging Gals takes up a lot of my time so I cannot promise consistency but I'll try my best. 

Anyway, today's post is a How To and something I don't blog enough about; FOOD!! More recently my oven has decided to give up on me which has made my life a living hell and as its Ramadan I'm in need of homemade cakes and cooked oven chicken but for now have to live without :( So yesterday I bought ingredients to make a pasta bake completely forgetting I have no working oven, but managed to make the best pasta bake EVER! (I'm being very honest).  Here's how:

You will need

Pasta (75g dry Fusilli pasta)
Mature Cheddar Cheese
Salt (1 tsp)
Sunflower or Olive Oil (1 tsp)
Pasta Sauce (The best one in my opinion is Home Pride's Creamy herb & tomato)

Extras: Sweet corn, garlic bread, salad, coleslaw // tuna/meatballs/chicken/vegetables in the bake.
Tip: For best results use a creamy tomato sauce instead of the usual bolegnese type sauces!


Step 1: Heat a pot of water for approximately 5 minutes
Step 2: Add Pasta, Oil and Salt (oil is used so the pasta doesn't stick to the pot!)
Step 3: Using a strainer, drain the pasta
Step 4: Return pasta to pot and mix with pasta sauce for approximately 5-7 minutes (you can mix sweetcorn and other vegetables in this step)
Step 5: Pour the pasta into an oven proof dish then grater a desired amount of cheese (you can add any cooked meats or fish to the pasta in this step)
Step 6: Preheat your grill for 5 minutes then leave your pasta to grill uncovered for about 15 minutes on a medium gas mark!

& Tada you're done your pasta bake should come out looking golden! So there we have it, no working oven but for the first time ever I've baked the most scrumptious pasta bake in a grill! I had some salad, coleslaw and garlic bread w/cheese to make the meal even more amazing!

My mum's verdict:

She says; "I like the fact that the pasta still remains soft whilst cooking in comparison to cooking in the oven".

  15. You lost me at adding oil to the pasta! If you add your pasta to a pan of water at a proper rolling boil and stir immediately and then after about 20-30 seconds you will find that perhaps one more stir after a minute or so and the boil of the water keeps the pasta moving enough to not stick. Do not add oil to pasta, it makes the sauce slide off the pasta.
