My Horror & Skin Saviours.

Sunday, 29 June 2014

Hi guys,
Again I am very sorry for going all MIA on you guys  I'm just such a busy bee running Blogging Gals its often very hard keeping up with my own blog. Hopefully I am able to juggle things a bit better, anyway enough sobbing already! Today's post is on product skin saviours & horrors... can you guess which one of these products I hate? No? Read on.

So as always my clean & clear deep cleansing lotion has always been in my skincare routine for years (since I was in secondary school actually) I cannot live without it. For someone with very oily skin the product helps keep the excess oil at bay, removes dirt that cannot be seen and also helps to prevent spots. Now, about a week and a half ago I was recommended Philosophy's 'purity' 3 in one cleanser for the face and eyes.. I was actually excited to try this as a friend recommended it however its not not a product I myself would endorse. I used this to remove my makeup and my oh my did it do a good job it was quiet foamy so easily took the makeup off, I didn't feel any burning sensations if anything my face felt very smooth upon using it.
The next morning I woke up with this rash on my cheeks, my skin had reacted to the ingredients really badly where my face  felt like it had some sort of carpet/sun burn, it was unbelievably dry and not a good look for me at all. As I attend many events I needed something that I felt would give me a quick fix, as in fix my skin to how it was! I actually started using my natural cocoa bar (cannot take a picture as my cat has eaten it up.. no seriously) which can be found in many beauty supply stores across the globe, I used this as it is penetrates the natural oil into the skin very well and kept on using this for the whole week. My skin started to heal but I noticed a few spots were popping up too and decided I had to take action and come up with a proper skincare routine.
So before bed and in the morning I use the products pictured below from left to right:
1. Clean & Clear's exfoliating wash - I use this to scrub away all my impurities and it also unblocks your pores
2. Clean & Clear's deep cleansing lotion as mentioned above
3. Nivea's daily essentials which also cleanses the skin, tones, moisturises and smells so good!

Seriously guys, I usually hate writing long posts like these but after my skin horror these products have exceeded my expectations. All I wanted was for my skin to go back to how it was and now its in even better condition - super soft and constantly moisturised YAY for drugstore brands.

Purity by philosophy claims to be 'made simple' yet has 101 ingredients in (slight exaggeration) including sulfates and alcohols some of the below products do too however do not claim to be 'natural' and yes this is what they claim their brand is, 0* from me!

Before I forget I have also been using Gosh's velvet touch foundation primer before applying makeup so may have aided to the baby butt softness of my skin!

Peace out XO

Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish & Sampleyes Free Products/Samples Review

Thursday, 19 June 2014

Did the title of this post confuse you a bit? Or are you here to learn more? Okay I'll stop teasing haha.
So from a fellow blogger I actually found out about this application available on most smart phones called 'Sampleyes'. There is a small selection of samples to choose from on the application and once you have chosen the samples, they will  either be sent out to you or you can collect them (if possible). The Liz Earle product pictured below was collected at John Lewis, this 50ml bottle of cleanse and polish lasts up to two weeks and is said to remove daily dirt and make up leaving skin looking radiant whatever your age or skin type.
The consistency of the product is quiet thick however once you use the Hot Cloth to polish your face you will see why! It literally moisturises every part of the skin leaving no room for dryness. This offer is still valid until the 25th June* so make sure you download the Sampleyes app and be sure to read some of the reviews on this product over at Liz Earle.

* Subject to availability
Best thing about this app, you don't have to be a blogger to join... so what are you waiting for? Sign up here now!!

DIY: Homemade mask for skin, hair and nails

Sunday, 8 June 2014 London, UK

Yes! You read the caption correct.. I have most certainly whipped up a special treat for you guys.
Can you say yes to at least one of the following: Do you have dry and damaged hair? Brittle nails? and or skin that quickly dries no matter how much you cream it? Well no fear Zee's ultimate all in one beauty product is here!

Right, so as you probably guessed from my previous post I've had braids (synthetic hair plaited into my own) for about three weeks now. Looks pretty but really was a handful in terms of sleeping, showering and was generally super heavy as I used way too much hair. Anyway I had enough of the style simply because I didn't feel clean even if I washed the braids, and have found I must be allergic to the hair as I have a bit of a rash all over my face. When I've done a protective hairstyle previously and taken it out I always do some sort of treatment on my hair just to restore all the natural goodness back into it again.

Let's begin!
All in one beauty product - one small banana, 4 tbsp avocado, 1 tbsp honey, 2 tbsp premium coconut milk , 1 tbsp argan oil  1/4 cup water then blend.
If you suffer from dry hair, skin and nails this mix is definitely a winner have a look at the properties of each ingredient for hair, you'll be amazed.
Treatment: So if you are using this as a treatment just after taking down a protective style I recommend sectioning your hair and thoroughly covering all sections with the mixture. Then leave it in for an hour covering your hair with a shower cap or clean plastic bag.
For those with fine/european hair I'd recommend doing the same as the above, however keeping the mixture in for about 10-15 minutes, afro, kinkys, coilys and curlies I'd recommend you leave this mix in for 20 minutes and then wash.

As a Face Mask: The same mixture can also be used for the face, using a spoon similar to the one above spread the mixture all over the face using the back end of the spoon and leave for a maximum of 20 minutes.
Hands and Nails: I suffer from really dry hands because I have an obsession with washing them like constantly! This mixture can be used as a hand moisturiser and nail restorer, again spread the mixture onto hands.. then using plastic gloves or cling film leave the mixture on for 5-10 minutes.

Tada... do you feel brand spanking new? Cause I do! (Have a look at my results below).
I used the oranges to cleanse my scalp before washing, it is also known to get rid of dandruff.
Used Garnier ultimate blends collection
Shea butter - shampoo
Coconut - Conditioner
Coconut - Restorative treatment

As always if you do try this, I'd love for you to comment below and let me know how everything went or if you'd love to try this also comment below.
I'll be whipping up some more home made beauty treatments as part of a series so look out for that!

Until next time!

Return of The Mac // OOTD.

Thursday, 5 June 2014

The weather in the UK has been super confusing, we literally have every season in a day over here so I'm often left confused in terms of what to wear. As I didn't want to freeze my butt off last night heading out I paired a boob tube (just in case it was sunny again) with some jeans then chucked on my mac. All details are below!

Bag - H&M // Coat - H&M // Jeans - ASOS // Shoes - ZARA // Necklace - PRIMARK.
